First up this week, are you taking your fish oil? If the answer wasn’t yes, then now’s the time to start!
Fish oil offers many benefits, some of which are listed below:
1. Reduced inflammation - BJJ can be hard on the body so why not give your joints a helping hand by taking fish oil to ease the pain.
2. Increased metabolism - Help to shift that unwanted weight by boosting your metabolism!
3. Aid in building/maintaining muscle - Fish oil helps your body to direct nutrients straight into the muscle where they are needed most for recovery and repair.
4. Boost brain function - increase concentration and improve memory so you don’t forget all those techniques!
5. Reduce risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes - This one speaks for itself!
The general recommendation for active individuals is to take between 6-10 capsules per day to fast track your way to the benefits. The easiest way to do this is to take 2-3 capsules with each of your main meals. Note that cod liver oil doesn’t count. You’re looking for a high quality fish oil that contains a combined 30-60% EPA/DHA, the health boosting omega-3 fatty acids. These can be found in any health food store but are often a lot cheaper online.
